Subject: The Goldbergs
After being on radio for years, it moved to CBS television, then to NBC television network, then moved to the now defunct DuMont Television Network....while always maintaining the bronx setting.

During the final first-run syndication season, the series characters moved to the suburbs. In real-life, people families were doing the same thing, but this also changed the show a lot, and it lost a lot of the charm. Nevertheless, these later episodes are still enjoyable.

In this episode, Molly has strange dreams and a neighbour gives obviously faulty advice on what those dreams mean.

This is not meant to be a madcap comedy, or the situation comedy most folks expect these days.

However, if you know anything about the Radio Plays "Lum & Abner" or "Dr. Christian", you can appreciate 'The Goldbergs'.

The Goldbergs was a very successful, long running series on radio and television and a precursor to the soap opera and other basic formats we enjoy today.

This Emmy nominated daily serial was on the air in some format from 1929-1956 and was the brainchild of Gertrude Berg, who wrote every script for many years and maintained full control-- a notable feat for a woman in those days.

It was relevant to contemporary society, as there were many 1st generation immigrants in post-war America who continued to honor their heritage, while creating a full life in the new country.

Although the Goldberg family is notably Jewish, and their experiences are informed by this culture, the show is not about Judaism or ethnicity.

It's a pleasure to watch and I hope you can enjoy it as well.
